Russian Cinema - RSN325
This unit presents well known Russian films with English subtitles, and looks at them from cultural, historical and ideological points of view. The unit is conducted in English and no knowledge of Russian is required. Films range from the 1920s to the present. Students express their understanding and views on the films through short essays written in English (or in Russian if they prefer). This unit is of interest for students who want to know about Russian films, but also for those who study the Russian language because they gain access to different vocabulary and pronunciations, as well as Russian songs and poetry.
