Russian Society and Culture - RSN105
This is a general education unit which offers a view of Russian cultural life and the cultural contributions made by Russia to the world. The unit is conducted in English and no knowledge of Russian is required. Topics include: literature; theatre and cinema; music; painting; and architecture. The contemporary situation in Russia is presented against the historical background. The unit is based on a seminar discussion format with extensive use of audio-visual materials, including recordings and films. Assessment is based on two quizzes and two essays.
