Local and International Peer-Assisted Learning Leadership in Law - LAWS542
This unit allows students to act as Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) leaders, running sessions focused on improving learning and associated skills. PAL encourages students to support each other and to learn co-operatively under the guidance of PAL leaders. PAL leaders provide opportunities for students to practice skills such as communication, problem solving, and critical analysis. Fostering these skills, PAL leaders aim to help students learn how to help one another and themselves with their learning. The benefits to both PAL students and leaders include the development of leadership, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, and independence and autonomy as learners. Students will have the opportunity to engage in PAL leading either at Macquarie or Internationally at Law Schools at partner institutions in Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and other jurisdictions. It is envisaged that students from the partner institutions may also come to Macquarie as students and be supported by PAL leaders.
