Manuscript Project (Half Year, Part A) - CWPG826
In this unit students write a 25,000 word creative manuscript (or equivalent in the case of poetry), which may be a complete work, or part of a longer work. The unit is suitable for experienced writers undertaking a sustained piece of writing. You work independently with regular feedback from a writing supervisor, meeting regularly throughout the semester. The completed manuscript is assessed by two readers, one of whom is usually a professional writer writing in a relevant genre.
Entry to the unit is restricted: you must have achieved high grades for your creative writing, have a potentially publishable manuscript underway or planned, and have completed most of your course-work units. Interested students should initially contact the Program Director for information about applying for unit entry.
At the end of CWPG826 students will have made considerable progress on their manuscript, however there is no final marking or grade given for this unit until completion of the manuscript during CWPG827. To complete the Manuscript Project in the Half Year mode, both units must be undertaken. CWPG826 is a 4 credit point unit; CWPG827 is an 8 credit point unit; together the two units are equivalent to the 12 credit point CWPG825 (Full Year option).
