Program Planning in ATSI Contexts - ABEP331
This unit includes a study of different approaches to curriculum decision making which can be applied to a variety of early childhood settings including those in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contexts. Students extend their skills needed to undertake planning, programming for and assessing the learning and well being of young children. While recognising the complexity of acknowledging diversity in early childhood settings, students explore issues involved in the implementation of an anti-bias curriculum, and building family and community relationships to support children. The field experience component of this unit is with children in an early childhood setting. It includes observation days and a teaching block. It enables students to explore decision-making processes involved in planning for children in differing contexts, and requires the documenting of children's learning.
