In this unit, students will develop knowledge and skills to participate in basic research in the field of health or biomedical science. Topics covered include techniques for safe and professional conduct in laboratory and research settings, appropriate research notetaking and record keeping, scientific communication in health and biomedical research and research ethics. This unit will provide placement opportunities for students in FMHS world-class research settings, so students gain valuable experience in how a professional research group operates. Here, students will contribute to research projects under the supervision of a senior researcher within FMHS. The research topic will vary depending on the placement.
