Media - WFMD001
What is media and why should we study it? This question is at the centre of this unit. In the context of rapidly changing, globalised new media environments students will explore contemporary media concepts and practices with an emphasis on digital media’s integration into virtually every aspect of modern life. Students will analyse and evaluate technologies, acquire discipline-specific terminology, examine histories, and practices of the various forms that constitute media. This unit prepares students for media and communications studies and arts disciplines at tertiary level by developing verbal and written communication skills as well as giving them exposure to digital production tools available on campus.
