European Law - LAWS516
Although this is primarily an introduction to the European Union and European human rights, the issues we examine affect people everywhere: human rights, the environment, international trade and the future for national sovereignty. Given that the EU is Australia's largest trading partner, how do European policies affect us here? Does Australia's human rights record measure up to European standards? A knowledge of EU law and the European human rights system is essential for anyone planning to study or practise law in Europe (including the UK), but an exploration of European law will enhance any students' understanding of law generally.
