Professional Development in Business and Economics - FOBE870
This unit develops students’ capabilities to position themselves for future internships and other work placements in order to maximise the opportunities such placements present. . Students will research and analyse different industry sectors and career pathways, particularly in relation to interview and recruitment processes and navigating complex and dynamic workplaces. The unit focuses on developing communication and other interpersonal skills, so that students are equipped to strategically and successfully represent themselves in range of situations using different mediums. This also involves students reflecting on specialist skills and knowledge and generic graduate capabilities in a synthesised and integrative way to articulate their current professional identity and self-manage future professional development. Assessment tasks are designed to be key learning activities involving interviews with industry practitioners/managers, professional portfolios, reflections and presentations. The unit particularly contributes to the development of graduate capabilities in effective communication and professional and personal judgement and initiative.
