Skills for Dialogue Interpreters 1 - TRAN891
The acquisition of the specialised skills and techniques that ensure effective communication between interlocutors who do not speak the same language is fundamental to the study of interpreting. In TRAN891 the essential skills for dialogue interpreting will be discussed and practiced; from linguistic transfer to fluent and coherent delivery. Students will develop knowledge of Goffman's participation framework and its application to dialogue interpreting. They will also develop crucial skills to evaluate their own interpreting performance and that of their peers for sustainable professional practice.
