Social Health Perspectives - PSYS833

This unit provides an exploration of various approaches to the construction of health, wellness, illness, abnormality and deviancy with a focus on socio-cultural perspectives. The unit also complements and extends some of the competencies developed in PSYS834. Issues covered include:
- Indigenous sensitivity training;
- Indigenous counselling;
- Critical thinking;
- Systemic/political/socio-cultural issues and their impact on psychological and social health; and
- Motivational interviewing.
