Innovations in Surgical Technology - MEDI829
This unit is offered on a pass/fail basis.
The service commitment required of many practising surgeons leaves little time for the reading required to stay up to date with the latest technological advances in even their own specialty. Opportunities for development are lost through ignorance of the latest advances and lack of time to explore even those changes that eventually become accepted as mainstream. Advances in other specialties are historically often the catalyst for surgical innovation. By completing this unit students will be presented with an opportunity to meet surgical innovators in both their field and other specialties and learn at first hand the steps that have led to the successful progress of ideas from research lab to clinical application.
