Psychology of Reading - PSY441

The aim of this unit is to introduce and develop students' understanding and awareness of current topics and research methodologies in the study of reading. Student will develop the ability to critically evaluate, present, and discuss research papers, with a view to formulating their own research approach. Topics will include reading acquisition, reading disorders and remediation, evidence-based evaluation of reading treatments, as well as theories and models of normal reading. There will be presentations by experts on various research issues and methodologies.
