PACE units

The PACE (Professional and Community Engagement) initiative is a key component of the University's strategic vision. Through this initiative, from 2012, PACE units will be an integral part of the undergraduate curriculum. These units will allow a specific focus on the development of interpersonal and social capabilities. Specifically, PACE units are being offered to:

  • develop the capabilities of Macquarie students to actively contribute to the well-being of people and the planet
  • enhance students' educational experience and work-readiness by offering them opportunities to apply their academic learning to real world situations
  • assist our local, regional and international partners build their capacity
  • transform the learning, teaching and research experience at Macquarie to enable us to better contribute to a socially inclusive and sustainable society.

PACE units are academically rigorous and must meet the PACE criteria as approved by Academic Senate.
The structure of each degree program determines whether completion of a PACE unit is a requirement. In some cases it will be a requirement; in other cases students will have an opportunity to complete a PACE unit if they choose to do so.
