Professional Internship: Learning in Practice - PACE399
This unit is offered on a pass/fail basis.
This unit provides a scaffolded curriculum to support student learning through a professional internship. Students apply their skills and knowledge in an authentic workplace setting and develop new skills and knowledge which enable them to successfully engage in unfamiliar tasks. These new and deepened skills and knowledge are used, in turn, to enhance students' mastery of their field of academic study. By reflecting on the learning experience enabled through this "cognitive apprenticeship" which integrates theory and practice, students develop an enhanced capacity for self-directed lifelong learning.
