This unit addresses advanced themes in technology enabled learning. The social and pedagogical implications of emerging technologies are examined, such as Virtual Worlds, Games Based Learning, and Augmented Reality. Emphasis is placed on how to effectively develop students' creativity, including in the areas of computational and design thinking. The unit also covers current trends in the field of learning design, as well as the use of technology for educational research. Students are provided with a more in-depth grounding on technical aspects of Information and Communication Technologies as well as issues surrounding effective implementation in schools to enable them to become technology leaders in schools. Students also have the scope to explore an emerging educational technology or issue in detail as part of the major research project.
