Archaeological Field Work - AHIS347

(Egypt). Students complete six weeks of full-time participation in an excavation in Egypt during the excavation season (usually November to January), visit other nearby archaeological sites and present a research essay on a topic related to the excavation. Numbers in this option are strictly limited and prospective students must consult Professor Kanawati, Associate Professor Ockinga or Dr Tristant prior to enrolment.
(Mediterranean). Students participate in a Mediterranean archaeological project. Before enrolment students must consult with the unit coordinator Dr Ken Sheedy and complete a form outlining the proposed project.
(Ancient Israel). Students participate in the Lautenschläger Azekah Expedition run annually by Tel Aviv University in July-August. Information on the site and excavation can be found at http://archaeology.tau.ac.il/azekah/. Before enrolment students must consult with the unit coordinator to organise registration and discuss assessment tasks. The co-ordinator and contact person is Dr Stephen Llewelyn.
