Young Children and the Arts in ATSI Contexts - ABEC121
This unit provides an overview of three art forms (children's literature, drama and visual arts) and explores their roles in the lives and education of young children. Each art form is investigated separately, but connections between them in the early childhood curriculum are explored. Examples of art making especially relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are a focus of this unit. The significance of the environment – and the role of the adult as a facilitator for young children's art making – is explored, with a particular focus on cultural contexts.
