Information and Communication Technologies in the Secondary School I - TEP444

This unit is intended for students who wish to become teachers of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the secondary school: it is available only as a minor teaching subject and must be combined with a teaching major. The unit includes an overview of computing courses in stages 4 and 5 of the Board of Studies New South Wales syllabus documents, followed by a focus on the stage 6 courses: information processes and technology (IPT) and software design and development (SDD). It introduces students to contemporary approaches to the teaching of ICT-related syllabuses. Curricula, resources and instructional strategies appropriate to teach each of the subjects are examined.
