Psychology of Voodoo Science - PSY435

This unit examines: - 'voodoo' science, including pathological science, which involves self-deception (eg, cold fusion, N-rays); - pseudoscience, which involves beliefs falsely portrayed as science (eg, creationism, homeopathy); and - scientific fraud, which involves deliberate deception (eg, Cyril Burt, Trofim Lysenko). In each case we will explore its psychological basis.
