Psychology at Work: Theory, Research and Application - PSY434
This unit gives students insight into theory, research and practice in industrial, work and organisational psychology. The primary focus is on conceptual understanding rather than professional skills (consistent with APS requirements for fourth-year students), but some practical issues are covered. Students learn about some misunderstood and controversial issues in the field, and develop a more sophisticated understanding of the complexities of applied psychology theory and phenoma. By completing the unit, students can increase their awareness of psychological issues in the workplace; develop their critical thinking skills in evaluating research, work practices and management fads; and enhance their capacity to make evidence-based decisions in relation to work.
