Language of Science and Technology - LING337

This unit examines the characteristics of the language of science, mathematics and technology with special reference to the teaching of science and mathematics at the secondary and tertiary level in both English and second or foreign language settings. The unit also evaluates differing approaches to the teaching of language for science and technology, and examines the principles of syllabus and course design; materials evaluation; collaboration between language teachers and teachers of science and mathematics; and assessment. The unit is of interest to students who are looking to follow careers in second or foreign language teaching and to those who are studying science or mathematics with a view to teaching.
