Movement Training and Improvisation - DANC215
This unit is a studio-based, practical unit. It is designed to allow students to discover their unique and particular way of moving whilst developing a disciplined dance practice through training and improvisation. This unit aims to provide students with a set of life long skills: focused creativity, individual expression, artistic observation and the discipline to achieve a creative practice. Students will increase their physical awareness and capabilities, deepen understanding of the body and its processes, employ movement as part of a diverse artistic practice and use improvisation as a performance mode. The two hour studio sessions will investigate skill development and individual expression. Assessment tasks are flexible: allowing students to choose their own areas of research. While most of the assessments are practical, students are also required to engage with the theoretical aspects of practice and improvisation developing written and oral skills.
