Technical Translation and Interpreting - TRAN873

The aim of this unit is to provide translation and interpreting students with the opportunity to discuss and practice advanced translation and interpreting skills in the specialised area of technical translation and interpreting. Students will analyse the complex linguistic, cultural and ethical challenges of translating technical documents and interpreting in technical contexts. Applied aspects of this unit focus on the development of preparation techniques and translation and interpreting strategies for various contexts and documents, eg patent documents, manuals and academic papers.
