Social Health Perspectives - PSYS833
This unit provides an exploration of various approaches to the construction of health, wellness, illness, abnormality and deviancy with a focus on socio-cultural perspectives. The unit also complements and extends some of the competencies developed in PSYS834. Issues covered include:- Indigenous sensitivity training;- Indigenous counselling;- Critical thinking;- Systemic/political/socio-cultural issues and their impact on psychological and social health; and- Motivational interviewing.
