Education and Culture - EDCN818

This unit considers the link between education and culture, and the construction and understanding of education as a cultural manifestation and cultural product. To do this it explores the reporting of education in the news, education as entertainment, and education via the Internet. It considers notions of community, identity and culture; the idea of youth cultures; and the ways that culture shapes and is shaped by commercial interests. The unit also looks at film as one way that students (among others) draw on cultural material.
