Climate Change Impacts - CLIM803
Global climate change is one of the important issues facing humanity in the twenty-first century; the ability to mitigate or adapt to projected climate changes depends on developing an integrated perspective on the physical, biological, biogeochemical, socio-economic and cultural factors that influence the climate system. This unit focuses on the impacts of climate change, both those already observed and projections for the twenty-first century, on components of the earth system including the physical environment, the marine and terrestrial biosphere, biodiversity, ecosystems goods and services, and human health and well-being. Management and adaptation to climate-change impacts will be highlighted from a multi-disciplinary perspective and the unit will also address the social and economic costs of dealing with these impacts. The unit is taught by a team of internationally renowned experts drawn from the University's Concentration of Research Excellence (CORE) in Climate Futures.
