Research Project in Biology - BIOL818

Students in this unit work under the direct supervision of an academic staff member on a small research project of their chosen topic. Students will design, manage and conduct their own research project, working with a high degree of independence. The project will generate new knowledge, advance scientific research, and will hopefully produce a scientific publication. This unit is the major core unit of the Postgraduate Certificate of Research Preparation (Science), which provides a pathway for students with a masters or similar degree by coursework to enter a research degree by providing an introduction to research skills and methods. Students wishing to enrol in the certificate should approach a supervisor, gain their support and discuss with them a suitable project prior to application.
