Language Teaching Methodologies - APPL921

This unit covers the key areas of language teaching methodology. Learners gain an appreciation of the variety of language teaching and learning contexts, and are introduced to methods of analysing and interpreting those contexts. It explores a range of approaches to language teaching, focusing on integrating language knowledge and skills into language learning activities. Learners are introduced to the principles of lesson planning, and key curriculum areas include developing the language macro-skills; materials evaluation and modification; technological aids to language teaching/learning; teaching knowledge about language; and assessment and evaluation.
