Southeast and East Asian Economies - ECON249
This unit addresses the economic development of the different countries of Southeast Asia, along with their growing economic relationship with China, particularly the role of China's large State owned enterprises. Development amongst the Southeast Asian countries is compared, with an emphasis on the different roles of the state and the market. The importance of institutions and the associated problem of corruption for economic development in the context of Southeast Asia are also addressed.
