Communication for Individuals with High Support Needs - SPED807

This unit addresses communication in persons with high support needs with the aim of preparing teachers or other professionals to work with these individuals. The unit examines both practical and conceptual issues with a focus on the use of research evidence-based decision-making. Specifically considered are theoretical and conceptual issues related to communication, communication options (including aided and unaided augmentative and alternative communication), assessment approaches, as well as naturalistic and structured intervention strategies.
