Advanced Assessment and Therapy - PSY979

This unit has two aims (1) To introduce the theory and practice of a range of cognitive behavioural techniques (CBT) for a variety of emotional problems. Topics include self-management, schema therapy, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing and acceptance and commitment therapy as well as issues around comorbidity and integration of techniques. (2) To cover the principles and methods of psychological assessment in the clinical context with a focus on assessment for treatment planning and outcome assessment. Topics include assessment of depression and suicide risk, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, eating disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, and childhood emotional disorders.
