CUL233: Drama Practice

What is involved in making drama? And how can we think critically about this practice? This workshop unit introduces students to the theatre and performance practices, giving students experience in aspects of drama production including acting and directing. It complements the department's other performance studies units (CUL230 Performance, Identity, and Popular Culture, CUL232 Rehearsing Lives, CUL330 Performance and Digital Culture, CUL331 Performing Place, Space and Bodies, and CUL341 Performance, Environments, and Material Culture). cultural studies analysis of performance/drama. It gives students experience in aspects of drama production, including acting and directing. This unit complements the department's other performance studies units (CUL 232 Seducing the Lens: Theories of screen performance, CUL 331 Performing Place, Space and Bodies), in particular, the workshop based units: CUL 230 Performance and Identity, CUL 330 Performance and Cultural Environments, and CUL341 Performative Events.
