PSY399: Psychological Science: Putting Theory into Practice
This capstone unit has a number of educational objectives. Students are required to draw upon and integrate the knowledge and skills that they have gained over the units of undertaking their major in psychology. Competencies established in their psychology units are reinforced in order to prepare them for further study in psychology or for the workplace. As part of the assessment for this unit students are required to identify a research topic and translate this idea into a research proposal outlining the design necessary to conduct such a study. This task requires them to conduct a literature review of their chosen topic, and identify and evaluate any ethical issues that they could foresee arising from such a research proposal. Completing the project assists students in developing many of the attributes expected of a psychology graduate.
