ACST300: Insurance and Superannuation Practice

This unit examines the fields of life insurance, general insurance, health funding and superannuation—four of the key areas of employment for actuarial graduates. For each area, we examine the products available, the industry structure and the ways the government supervises or restricts the industry. Thus this unit provides a solid grounding in the relevant institutional structures for students preparing to enter the actuarial workforce. Some modules in this unit may be taught via detailed readings rather than by formal lectures.
