Developing Social Policy - SOCX810

Given the rapid expansion of social policy in recent decades, and its expected growth with an ageing population, this unit introduces students to analysing social policy. It aims to bring practical and theoretical knowledge about policy formation and development together. The unit will cover general frameworks for considering social policy and the welfare state and will foster an understanding of the debates, interests and problems that will shape the future of welfare states and social policy-making. The unit will analyse wider themes through the prism of concrete issues that have been thrown up for policy makers in contemporary Australia.
