Innovation in Leadership, Teamwork and Advocacy - HSYP807

Public health is a field that requires leadership, teamwork, and innovation. This unit will provide students with theoretical knowledge of leadership frameworks and leadership styles as well as how to develop personal definitions of leadership. Students will develop and improve their skills in working effectively as a team member and implement fresh, innovative ideas in relation to complex public health issues, be they working in an organisation or community setting. Students will also develop an understanding of advocacy in healthcare and be required to apply skills in this area. They will learn skills via coursework, case studies of public health significance, lectures by invited public health leaders, and develop an ability to work and collaborate with people from a variety of disciplines and settings through small group exploration.
