Economics - WFEC001

The aim of this unit is to provide an introduction to economic theory, and a foundation in economic principles, to prepare students for first year undergraduate studies in commerce and business. A focus of the unit is the development of language skills and assisting students to understand subject specific terms and concepts as well as to provide examples of their application in the context of a modern market economy. The unit covers macroeconomic concepts including GDP, inflation, and unemployment, as well as interest rates and exchange rates. Furthermore, the unit explores the government's and the central bank’s macroeconomic policies that are used to influence these economic variables.
