Principles of Maths, Science and Technology Education - EDST211

This unit provides teacher education students with background pedagogical content knowledge in the areas of science, technologies and mathematics in K-6. The unit focuses on developing learners’ numeracy and scientific literacy and the processes of Designing and Producing, Working Mathematically and Working Scientifically using relevant contexts and a range of technological tools/resources with a focus on sustainability where possible. Teaching strategies used in the unit recognise that teacher education students may have existing knowledge of these topics and draw on constructivist theories of learning with a focus on evaluating available resources.
