Hieroglyphic Egyptian C - AHIS377
This unit builds upon AHIS279 providing further study of Middle Egyptian grammar and syntax as well as the study and interpretation of Middle Egyptian hieroglyphic texts, in particular the story of Sinuhe, the classic Middle Egyptian literary text. The position of Middle Egyptian in the history of the ancient Egyptian language will also be dealt with and students will be introduced to the main features that distinguish Old Egyptian (the language of the Old Kingdom texts) from Middle Egyptian.
