Transformations in Indigenous Education - ABST205

This unit commences with an exploration of education methods practiced by Indigenous Australian people prior to colonisation. It then examines how Western education practices have shaped, influenced and transformed the lives of Indigenous people over the past two centuries. A variety of education strategies and methods are investigated in order for students to gain an understanding of Indigenous and non-Indigenous approaches to education. The current Indigenous Education climate is then analysed with a goal to understand how to develop new strategies for the advancement of Indigenous Education.
