Science Communication in Action - SCOM301

This unit provides learners with the opportunity to develop a real life strategy for a workplace to enhance effective science communication skills in one of several ways:
1) by communicating the science work accomplished in the workplace to the target and broader community
2) by communicating to the public the science around a product or service
3) by lifting the profile of the organisation in the public arena. The project will include media strategies, target audiences, project timelines and content outlines. One aspect of the proposal should be completed fully. The project may involve a real or an imaginary company/organisation but its role, charter, science component and the target customer, consumer and/or audience needs to be identified.
This unit will bring together all of the skills, knowledge and theories covered in previous Science Communication units and provides a real life task that mirrors a work place role.
