The Language of Desire, Passion and Pain - LING338
In the boudoir and on the sports ground, in music and movies, through Shakespearean sonnets and via @romanticmsgs on twitter, we have a basic need to communicate our desires, our passions and our pain. This unit will consider the language used to communicate all three from a range of linguistic perspectives and theories. Over the course of the semester, students will develop a research project based on data drawn from specialised sources.
