Indigenous Politics, Policy and Activism - ABST304
This unit examines social justice matters that affect Indigenous Australians through a variety of political, legal and human rights issues. The aim of the course is to introduce students to key ideas associated with social justice and politics. Various historical, political, social and institutional powers will be investigated to illustrate how they have contributed to a range of policies that influence the lives of Indigenous people. Importantly Indigenous led social justice movements, such as the Freedom Rides, Tent Embassy, and the Wave Hill Walk-Off, will be examined.
