Professional Internships in Social Research - SOC849

This unit provides students with experience undertaking applied or policy related research for a community, not-for-profit, government or commercial organisation. Students will need to work between 100 and 150 hours on a research project, supervised both by the unit convenor and the person in charge at the partner organisations. The placement will be supported by 5 on-campus workshops. Students learn first-hand about social research and gain valuable experience undertaking social inquiry. Students should have completed at least one research methods unit prior to undertaking this unit. Students who want to organise their own placements should contact the unit convenor at least 2 months in advance of the beginning of semester.
