Professional Practice 7 - MEDI821
This unit is offered on a pass/fail basis.
This unit utilises the internationally recognised CanMEDS competencies to develop students’ knowledge and skills in professional practice. There are six competencies that constitute the Medical Expert: Communicator, Scholar, Collaborator, Manager, Health Advocate, and Professional. In this unit, students will enhance their understanding of and competence in the delivery and coordination of safe patient care by focusing on a these competencies, with a different competency forming the core of the unit throughout each of the offerings. This is the first of twelve units on professional practice. Teaching will include ongoing development through a spiralling curriculum design. Each unit will focus on a particular aspect framed within the CanMEDS structure.
