Professional Development in Banking and Finance - AFIN881

This unit prepares students for the transition to a career in banking and finance. Students will examine the banking and finance industry, analysing the various roles, career pathways and professional associations available to finance professionals. Students will develop their networking and communication skills to present and represent themselves as finance professionals. In addition, students will develop their critical thinking skills through exploration of different sources of information required in the finance profession, from a variety of international, governmental and commercial organizations. Assessment tasks include professional/business reports, resumes and interviews. The unit contributes to the development of the Macquarie graduate capabilities of effective communication and engaged and responsible, active and ethical citizens. It is a compulsory unit in the Master of Banking and Finance and one of the prerequisites for the elective AFIN882 Banking and Finance Internship unit.
