Human Evolution and Diversity - ANTX151
The unit explores the evolution of our species, what makes human beings distinct and how human beings have developed their biological, cultural and technological diversity. The most recent theories and research in anthropology, paleoarcheology and comparative primatology will be explored, providing insights into the major debates about human evolution, race and sexuality. Specific topics to be covered include the development of the human brain, bipedalism, language, families, social life, reproduction, hunting, diet, clothing, art tolls and technology, the domestication of plants and animals, cities and the first complex states.
