Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility - MGSM868

This unit is subject to a quota. Limited places are available. Please refer to the Faculty for further information

While many believe CSR would have a positive impact on their brand or even see it as a mean to do good for the community, often it is not done in the most effective way to make a substantial impact. Strategic CSR is about tying CSR to the company’s strategy, core activities and competitive advantage. It is also about working from a multi-stakeholder perspective. In this unit we will look into what strategic CSR is and what it involves: ethical behaviour, giving and environmental sustainability. A multi stakeholders approach will be introduced, to better understand the market and context that CSR is occurring in, particularly the community organisations in Australia. We will debate on the related benefits and challenges, how to enhance employees’ involvement and how to lead an organisational change toward strategic CSR. The unit will also introduce some cutting edge concepts and ideas, such as CSV, the blue economy and corporate peace.
