Advanced Issues in Personality - PSYC736

This unit will examine contemporary themes in personality research with a focus on the relationship between personality and culture. Topics include the nature of self and the debate surrounding individualist-collectivist approaches to personality. The unit will also examine the nature of personality disorders and 'personality pathology' (eg, dissociative identity disorder) within a cultural context. The aim is to provide a critical approach to the material and examine the contributions from various schools of thought within personality (eg, psychodynamic, humanistic and trait approaches).
